DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor has an opening for a Safety Professional to support remediation project in West Deptford, New Jersey.  This position reports directly to Sevenson’s Director of Health and Safety and indirectly to the Project Manager.


The daily duties typically include:
  • Support site management in implementing the site’s Safety and Health Plan
  • Perform job site inspections to identify existing or potentially unsafe conditions
  • Assist with investigations for near miss, injury, or property damage events
  • Help with identifying root causes and assist supervision/management in developing corrective actions
  • Coach workers to properly follow risk mitigation strategies and effective use of PPE
  • Assist with preparation of activity hazard analysis for upcoming tasks as well as audit existing activity hazard analysis for accuracy
  • Promote a workplace with a positive safety culture
  • Promote eliminating at risk behaviors through coaching and alternate methodologies
  • Execute emergency preparedness plan procedures and policies
  • Conduct real time and integrated air monitoring as well as heat stress and noise monitoring
  • Establish exclusion and contamination reduction zones
  • Procure necessary PPE and other resources to support implementation of the safety program

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ environmental remediation experience in the last 10 years
  • Three years’ experience with safety-related degree or third party nationally accredited safety related certification or designation
  • Documented 24 hours of formal or online classroom training in safety and occupational health in the last 5 years
  • USACE EM 385-1-1 experience desired
  • OSHA 30-hour OSHA Construction Outreach Card with last 5 years
  • OSHA 40-hour and subsequent 8-hour refresher HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Current first aid and CPR/AED training certificate preferred
  • Able to perform real time and integrated air monitoring
  • Able to identify workplace hazards and recommend abatement strategies
  • Must have valid driver’s license and have good driving record (motor vehicle record reviewed as a condition of employment)
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and wear a respirator
  • Designated safety sensitive position, medical or recreational marijuana not permitted

SALARY/BENEFITS:
An employee’s salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.  Extensive company-provided benefit package includes medical, dental, prescription, 401k, profit sharing, and pension plan.  Reimbursement of professional fees (BCSP, ASSP, etc.) as well as continuing education and training.
